Architecture firm Tommaso Giunchi + Atelierzero recently renovated an apartment in Milan for a young couple, designing a new layout with custom-made features and modern functionality accented by Vibia lighting.
Throughout the space, light and neutral shades predominate and are punctuated by pops of bright colour as in the L-shaped kitchen. Here, rich herringbone parquet floors and wood cabinetry lend a warm, relaxing look that is offset by the bracing tones of a malachite dining table and the teal-blue walls of the entrance corridor.
The luminaire allows light to be placed exactly where needed with its deconstructed, adjustable design featuring three disconnected pieces: a triangular aluminum shade containing an LED-powered light source, a slender carbon fibre stem, and the wall base.
The form cantilevers out from the wall to rest directly over the table, creating a focal point in the open layout with a strong horizontal trajectory that offsets the residence’s long, vertical orientation. Finished in black, North unifies the dining area by picking up the palette of the chairs while casting a downwards pool of light.
